Black Bears Edged, 5-2, by Mahoning Valley

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers racked up a win at Russell Diethrick Park, bumping off the West Virginia Black Bears, 5-2, in 10 innings. Carlos Lerma, who started for Mahoning Valley, pitched effectively for his team. Amari Worrell came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. His record now stands at 4-2. The Scrappers raised their record to 34-18.
Mahoning Valley used a timely hit from Óscar Metelo to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Scrappers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It's a good feeling when you fight so hard and win," said Scrappers manager Ramiro Tobar.
