Muckdogs Lose Late, 5-4
Despite the exploits of designated hitter Mark Vaughn, the Batavia Muckdogs were beaten by the Connecticut Tigers, 5-4, in 10 innings. Vaughn went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Seth Stewart, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The Tigers, at 31-21, sit in first place in the Stedler Division.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 23-year old shortstop Nick Bell had a chance to be the hero. Batavia pitcher Dario Banda wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Bell hit a sacrifice fly. The Tigers had themselves a thrilling win.

"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Batavia manager Jake Landen.
