Behind a solid performance from second baseman Ryan Jackson, the West Virginia Black Bears defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 5-4. Jackson went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Black Bears. Brian Barnes closed out the game, earning his 5th save. The Black Bears are now 31-23.

West Virginia used a well-timed hit by Stephen Perkins to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Black Bears ahead, 5-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Just glad I could help us get a win," said Perkins.
