ValleyCats Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats and Hudson Valley Renegades treated fans to some rich drama.
The Tri-City ValleyCats earned a close win over the Hudson Valley Renegades, thanks in part to John Kelling. The Tri-City right-hander, who leads the NYP in wins with 7, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. The ValleyCats lead the Stedler Division by 3 games.
The decisive blow was delivered by Phil Krug in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Denny McMurtry to win the game for Tri-City. The home crowd went nuts.
"We're in for a photo finish, I think," said Krug. "Time to play our best ball."
