The bats were silent much of the day at MCU Park. But 21-year old third baseman Ricardo Rivera produced just enough offense to carry the Black Bears past the Brooklyn Cyclones, 2-1. Rivera was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. The winner in relief was Chris Lemieux. He is now 4-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Ian Roth got the save, the 6th for him this season.

Baltesar Rebouas had a direct impact on the outcome. Rebouas contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put West Virginia up, 2-0.

"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Black Bears manager Ken Dugles.

The Black Bears raised their record to 26-29.
