Tri-City and Vermont got after it at Centennial Field.

The Vermont Lake Monsters got a sterling performance from pitcher Jose Gradillas, but the Tri-City ValleyCats still prevailed, 6-2. Gradillas came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. The ValleyCats move to 22-33 with the win, while the Lake Monsters drop to 15-40.

Tri-City used a clutch at-bat from Kyle Denny to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the ValleyCats ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Denny told the Tri-City Herald: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
