Muckdogs Beat Mahoning Valley, 2-1
|
The Batavia Muckdogs did just enough to sneak past the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 2-1, at Dwyer Stadium. Batavia pitcher Jose Franco, in particular, had a standout performance. Batavia now sits at 12-43, while Mahoning Valley falls to 44-11.
The Muckdogs were down to their final out when first baseman Salvador Martinez turned a first pitch fastball from Lindsay Nickerson into a 2-run double. The walk-off double made the Dwyer Stadium crowd go wild.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Franco said.
