Williamsport Sent Home with 7-4 Loss
|
Matt Dean did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Williamsport Crosscutters from being beaten, 7-4, to the Auburn Doubledays at Falcon Park. Dean was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mikey Thomas picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 1-1. The last-place Doubledays lifted their record to 23-31.
Mike McQueen had a big 3-run home run for the Doubledays in the bottom of the second inning. With Auburn leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a changeup from 17-year old left-handed pitcher Jarod Skinner and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Doubledays on top, 4-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said McQueen.
