Mahoning Valley designated hitter Brad Stevens was instrumental in helping the Scrappers triumph, 10-1, over the Williamsport Crosscutters. Stevens went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. Sean Winnett got credit for the win, improving to 1-4. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 5.2 innings. Adam de Jesus nailed down his 3rd save.

Chaz Hinz had a big grand slam home run for the Scrappers in the bottom of the third inning. With Mahoning Valley leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a slider from Armando Cerda, who is tied for 10th in the NYP in wins with 5, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Scrappers on top, 5-0.

"They beat us, they beat us soundly," said losing manager Matt Sehnert.

With the win, the Scrappers improved to 20-36.
