Black Bears Stick Cyclones with 6-2 Loss
|
The West Virginia Black Bears took Brooklyn pitcher Billy Galindo's best shot and still were able to claim a win at MCU Park. The final score had West Virginia getting past the Cyclones, 6-2. Galindo went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 4. Mike Gallegos snagged the win in relief. He goes to 6-2 on the season. Juan Saavedra suffered the loss. The 4th-place Black Bears now have a win-loss record of 27-29.
The Black Bears took the lead in the top of the third when Steve Greving banged a two-out single. West Virginia had been trailing 1-0, but Greving hit a 1-0 fastball from Billy Galindo for a 2-run single.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Greving. "You've got to get results."
