Black Bears Beat Doubledays, 5-3
|
The West Virginia Black Bears picked up a win at Falcon Park, topping the Auburn Doubledays, 5-3. On the mound for West Virginia was right-hander Hugo Rodriguez. He played a principal role in the triumph. Rodriguez picked up the win for West Virginia, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. Andrew Kasper earned the save for West Virginia, his 2nd.
West Virginia used a well-timed hit by Fred Trent to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Black Bears ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"That was a really good outing by Hugo," said West Virginia manager Alex Barahona.
West Virginia has a record of 33-23, placing them second in the Pinckney Division.
