ValleyCats Win at Vermont, 3-2
|
At Centennial Field, the Vermont Lake Monsters and Tri-City ValleyCats were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Tri-City pitcher Riley Fitzmaurice did his part in helping his team beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Fitzmaurice, now 5-5, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The save was credited to Rich Liverman, his 4th.
Chris Nin, who is tied for 6th in the NYP in bases on balls with 25, had a direct impact on the outcome. Nin contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put Tri-City up, 3-0.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Fitzmaurice.
The ValleyCats raised their record to 26-31.
