The West Virginia Black Bears got a magnificent effort from pitcher Luis Amezquita, who kept Auburn hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Black Bears win at Russell Diethrick Park. West Virginia is 32-25 and Auburn, with the loss, 22-35.
In the bottom of the first inning, left fielder Justin Cantrell had a solo home run for West Virginia. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Black Bears on top, 1-0.
"The key for me has just been attacking the zone and hitting my spots. When I'm throwing strikes and not falling behind in counts, those are the days when I pitch really good," said Amezquita.
