Ironbirds Stumble, Lose 6-4 to Renegades
|
The Hudson Valley Renegades overcame a good performance by Aberdeen right fielder Amari Spencer to knock off Aberdeen, 6-4, at Dutchess Stadium. Spencer was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. John Cozad, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The save went to Cory Rasmussen, number 3 for him.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when Renegades second baseman Brian Fry hit a fastball from Brian Gilmer for a 2-run single. Just like that, Hudson Valley was up, 5-4.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Renegades manager Marquise Woods. "This one was nice to get."
Hudson Valley is now 21-36, Aberdeen 38-20.
