Tigers Deal Lake Monsters 3-1 Loss
|
The Connecticut Tigers topped the Vermont Lake Monsters, 3-1, in New York-Penn League action at Centennial Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Connecticut pitcher Tristan Burke. The save was credited to Manny Villareal, his 1st. The defeat makes Vermont 23-35.
Connecticut used the timely hitting of Tomas Chapa to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Connecticut manager Allen Franklin.
