Connecticut picked up a win at Dutchess Stadium, bumping off the Hudson Valley Renegades, 8-2. Pitcher Francisco Nieves was a major reason the Tigers emerged victorious. The third-place Renegades now sit at 24-34.

Connecticut won the game in part because of Jason Black. The third baseman ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 6-0. For the game, Black had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
