ValleyCats Use Late Rally to Win
The Connecticut Tigers got a superb performance from pitcher Alvaro Alvarez, but the Tri-City ValleyCats still won the game, 7-6. Alvarez threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Picking up the win was Manny Gonzalez. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 4. Tri-City sits in first place in the Stedler Division at 38-20.

Tri-City needed the clutch hitting of Manny Aguayo to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the ValleyCats on top, 7-4. For the game, Aguayo had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"First place," said ValleyCats manager Alex Ordonez. "This is right where we want to be."
