The Aberdeen Ironbirds beat the Brooklyn Cyclones, 9-0, at Ripken Stadium. Fernando Martinez went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The 22-year old shortstop was a menace to Brooklyn all day. Dusty Cosand, the winner, improved to 3-2. He held the Cyclones to no runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 5. The save went to Justin Flentge, his 5th this season.

The tide might have turned with no one out in the top of the fourth, had not Dusty Cosand made a big pitch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and the Cyclones trailing 3-0, he retired Jesse Denger, who hit into a double play.

Aberdeen is in first place in the McNamara Division with a record of 41-18.
