Late Magic Gets Mahoning Valley 3-2 Win
|
Mahoning Valley picked up a win at Eastwood Field, toppling the Batavia Muckdogs, 3-2. Pitcher Ben Mills was one of the reasons the Scrappers triumphed. Lindsay Nickerson came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 6-1. The first-place Scrappers have won 4 straight games.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Mahoning Valley catcher Curtis Alexander, facing Cory Lankford, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Scrappers the 3-2 win.
"No one can call baseball boring," said Scrappers manager Mike McCormick. "Not after a game like that."
