The State College Spikes picked up a win at Eastwood Field, knocking off the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 6-3. Starting pitcher Mario Delgado played a key role in the triumph. Reliever John Dunn picked up the win. His record improves to 2-3. Phil Gorski, who is tied for 4th in the NYP in strikeouts with 85, took the loss. The first-place Spikes go to 40-20.

State College used the timely hitting of Carlos Rodrigues to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Spikes on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I had one goal in mind," said Delgado. "Keep pounding the zone."
