The first-place Aberdeen Ironbirds took on the Staten Island Yankees in front of a spirited crowd.

Despite a great performance by Staten Island catcher Tyler Terry, the Aberdeen Ironbirds defeated the Yankees by the score of 6-3 at Ripken Stadium. Terry was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The save went to Mike Hindman, his 6th this season.

The Ironbirds got a big at-bat from catcher Marco Tellez. For the game, Tellez went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Aberdeen a 4-1 lead.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Tellez. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

The McNamara Division-leading Ironbirds have a record of 41-20.
