Lake Monsters 3-1 Winners Over Lowell
|
Vermont and Lowell duked it out and the Lake Monsters came out victorious.
The bats were silent much of the day at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. But 23-year old shortstop Sergio Celis produced just enough offense to carry the Lake Monsters past the Lowell Spinners, 3-1. Celis was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. Vermont pitcher Alex Ibarra got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Cruz Castillo got the loss.
Dave Herrera, who is tied for 7th in the NYP in home runs with 7, had a direct impact on the outcome. Herrera contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put Vermont up, 2-0.
"The other side played a good game," said Lowell manager Victor Aquino. "You tip your cap to them."
Vermont's record now stands at 25-36, placing them third in the Stedler Division.
