Spikes, Cathcart Deal Black Bears 3-1 Setback

The State College Spikes topped the West Virginia Black Bears, 3-1, in New York-Penn League action at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of State College pitcher Art Cathcart. After today's action, State College sits at 40-21, while West Virginia falls to 28-33.
State College starter Art Cathcart showed the eye of a tiger. The left-hander allowed 1 run, while limiting West Virginia to 2 hits over 8.1 innings. He was tough to hit.
"Art was the star," said State College manager Paul Thomas.
