Scrappers Dismiss Crosscutters, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring clash between Mahoning Valley and Williamsport, pitcher Tom Martin was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-2 Scrappers win. Pablo Iglesias earned the save, his 11th. The Crosscutters, now 9-53, have lost 4 straight.
Josh Sharp had a big run-scoring double for the Scrappers in the bottom of the third inning. With Mahoning Valley leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Josh Maida and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Scrappers ahead, 3-0.
"Tom is a tough competitor," said Mahoning Valley manager Ramiro Tobar.
