Lake Monsters Deal Cyclones 11-9 Loss
The Vermont Lake Monsters outlasted Alex Boyd and the Brooklyn Cyclones, 11-9. Boyd was impressive in the loss. The Brooklyn third baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Vermont reliever Ricky Jaco was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-1. Bert Reed took the loss for Brooklyn. Mike Davis, credited with the save, is now 3 for 6 in save opportunities.

The Lake Monsters beat the Cyclones in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Ron Nevils produced in the top of the tenth. Batting against Bert Reed, Nevils gave his team the lead, 10-9, when he hit a run-scoring single.

Nevils told a Vermont Bulletin reporter that he felt "elated" after the win.

The win gives Vermont a season record of 36-26.
