Ironbirds Take Home 4-2 Win Over Vermont
|
Aberdeen turned a good effort from starter Nate Coleman into a win over the Vermont Lake Monsters at Ripken Stadium. The Ironbirds won the game, 4-2. The winner was Coleman. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Alex Dezesus. Jorge Rosario earned the save for Aberdeen, his 2nd of the year.
The Ironbirds got a big at-bat from shortstop Tony Fernandez. For the game, Fernandez was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Aberdeen a 2-0 lead.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Fernandez told the Aberdeen Daily News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
Aberdeen is now 37-25, Vermont 18-44.
