Bronson Leads Ironbirds to 8-6 Win Over Lake Monsters
|
The Aberdeen Ironbirds beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 8-6, at Centennial Field. The win was due in part to designated hitter Brad Bronson, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Aberdeen reliever Ricardo Ontiveros picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Gerardo Alvarado was tagged with the loss. The Ironbirds' win now puts them at 19-44.
Bronson had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 cutter from Gerardo Alvarado, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Ironbirds a 8-6 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Bronson.
"They played a better game than we did," said Vermont skipper Travis Wallace.
