Vermont Wins, 8-7, in Extra Innings
The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Lowell Spinners, 8-7, in 10 innings. Much of the credit belonged to second baseman Alex Torres, who went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks for the Lake Monsters. Vermont pitcher Josh McCloud got the win. He's now 3-0. Eric Gore was tagged with the loss. The loss makes Lowell 31-32.

Vermont used the timely hitting of Alvaro Rodriguez to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"That's what these guys do," said Lake Monsters manager Dana Joseph. "They battle, they fight."
