Scrappers Cut Down Black Bears, 9-1
Starting pitcher Ivan Puentes was a major factor in the 9-1 Mahoning Valley Scrappers triumph over the West Virginia Black Bears. Puentes got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.1 innings. Puentes allowed 1 run. The Scrappers are now 51-12, while the Black Bears fall to 18-45.

The Scrappers got an important contribution from catcher Ramon Ramires, who in the bottom of the second punched a 2-2 changeup into center for a 2-run double. It was his 4th double of the season and put the Scrappers ahead, 2-0.

"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Ramires.
