Matt Myers, who is tied for 2nd in the NYP in quality starts with 8, had a strong outing for the Tri-City ValleyCats against the Connecticut Tigers at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 10-3 win. The winner was Myers. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Ricardo Castro. The setback makes Connecticut 34-30.

Luis Rodriguez had a big 2-run double for the ValleyCats in the bottom of the first inning. With Tri-City leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ricardo Castro and swatted a double to left. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the ValleyCats ahead, 3-0.

"It was a team effort and I thought the guys had a good plan and approach," said Rodriguez after the game.
