Spinners Earn 5-1 Win Against Tigers
|
Lowell Spinners starter Sergio Carrizales was in midseason form, as he helped his team beat the Connecticut Tigers, 5-1. The last-place Spinners go to 24-40.
Lowell used the timely hitting of Dustin Penner to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Spinners on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Sergio just settled in and did what he does," said Lowell manager Mike Palmer.
