The Mahoning Valley Scrappers picked up a win at Russell Diethrick Park, topping the West Virginia Black Bears, 9-3. On the mound for Mahoning Valley was left-hander Guilherme Sarracines. He played a principal role in the triumph. Sarracines, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing no runs. With the victory, the Scrappers record stands at 15-50.
In the top of the fourth, Mahoning Valley third baseman Edgar Calderon had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Calderon stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-0, Mahoning Valley. For the game, he went 2 for 5 with 2 singles.
"Guilherme kept his poise and got the job done," said Mahoning Valley manager Jonathan Chaparro. "He was outstanding."
