Renegades Drop Close One Late
In a tight contest at Dutchess Stadium, the Staten Island Yankees edged the Hudson Valley Renegades by the score of 7-6. Staten Island center fielder Juan Velasco, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Staten Island pitcher Sonny Davidson earned the win, hiking his record to 4-1. Brian Sarchet suffered the loss. Jeff Tinch recorded the save for Staten Island, his 5th of the season.

Jesus Menendez came through with a big-time hit for Staten Island. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Yankees manager Tyler Ebert. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

Today's win puts Staten Island at 23-42, while Hudson Valley falls to 25-40.
