Crosscutters Trip Spikes, 5-2, in Extra Innings
State College got a terrific performance from pitcher Marco Monje, but it wasn't enough to beat the Williamsport Crosscutters. Williamsport won the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park contest, 5-2. Monje threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Brian Denning got credit for the win, improving to 7-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. Williamsport, at 52-13, is cruising.

Williamsport used a timely hit from Vicente Guzman to get the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Crosscutters ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"We're on a roll," said Crosscutters manager Will Walsh.
