Mahoning Valley Scrappers starter J.P. O'Kelley pitched his team past the Williamsport Crosscutters, 8-1. Mahoning Valley, at 42-24, is 5½ games up in the Pinckney Division.

Mahoning Valley left fielder Óscar Metelo contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 55th hit of the season and put the Scrappers ahead, 4-0.

"J.P. executed his pitches at a high level," said Mahoning Valley manager Ramiro Tobar.
