A good performance from catcher Bryant Baker helped the Lowell Spinners defeat the Staten Island Yankees, 6-2. Baker hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Spinners. The third-place Yankees have lost 8 consecutive games.

With Lowell trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Baker hit a fastball from Rich Mondragon for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Spinners ahead, 4-2.

"All good teams, all good offenses go through challenging times," said Staten Island manager Erik Bowman. "This is another one."
