Muckdogs Earn 8-5 Home Win
|
Hudson Valley got a terrific game from second baseman Ricardo Rubio. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Batavia, 8-5. Rubio went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Batavia reliever Raul Manzanares picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jason Wengerd was saddled with the loss. The Muckdogs saw their record improve to 34-32.
The Renegades had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Muckdogs going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old right fielder Edwin Carreon came to the plate. Carreon hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 cutter from Hudson Valley hurler Jason Wengerd. It was Carreon's 8th double of the year.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Carreon, "and then get after it again."
