Lake Monsters Nip Tigers, 3-2
|
Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Connecticut Tigers and Vermont Lake Monsters.
The Vermont Lake Monsters faced a tough opponent in Connecticut pitcher Ricardo Batista, but found a way to pull out the victory at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium by a final score of 3-2 in 10 innings. Batista went 5 innings and allowed no runs. Pat Beil, 3-3, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings.
David Sorenson had a direct impact on the outcome. Sorenson contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Vermont up, 3-2.
"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Sorenson, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
With the win, Vermont goes to 19-47, while the Tigers fall to 44-23.
