Spinners Drop Lake Monsters, 4-2

The Lowell Spinners converted a terrific effort from starter Ismael Barreto into a win over the Vermont Lake Monsters at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. The Spinners won the game by a final score of 4-2. Barreto picked up the win for Lowell, going 6 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 4-3. The win puts the Spinners at 41-27, while the Lake Monsters drop to 38-30.
The Spinners got a big at-bat from shortstop Bill Spilker. For the game, Spilker went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season gave Lowell a 3-1 lead.
Spilker called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
