The Connecticut Tigers overcame a pretty good performance by Staten Island first baseman Justin Roach, beating the Yankees, 6-4, in 10 innings. Roach was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Connecticut reliever Alex Berrios picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Luis Batista took the loss. Connecticut leads the Stedler Division by 7½ games.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jesus Martinez? The 20-year old center fielder Martinez stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put Connecticut up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"Our guys refused to lose," said Martinez.
