Ironbirds Sink ValleyCats, 4-3
|
The Ironbirds grabbed a win, 4-3, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Tri-City pitcher Brad Thaler. Thaler went 8 innings and allowed 4 runs. Aberdeen pitcher Roland Nobilo earned the win, hiking his record to 3-2. Brad Thaler suffered the loss. Aberdeen's record now stands at 31-40, placing them third in the McNamara Division.
Aberdeen used the hitting of Jonathan Battle to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Ironbirds on top, 3-0. For the game, Battle had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Aberdeen manager Matt Kolb was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
