Cyclones Win Another One, 7-2
|
Behind a fine performance from Nate Joyner, the Brooklyn Cyclones knocked off the Connecticut Tigers, 7-2. Joyner went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Cyclones. Lee Cooke, the winner, improved to 4-2. He held Connecticut to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. With the win, Brooklyn raised its record to 59-13.
Brooklyn relied on the bat of Fernando Turcios to get the win. The first baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Cyclones ahead, 2-1. For the game, Turcios had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We're developing a swagger," said Joyner.
