Ironbirds Make It 7 in a Row with 2-1 Win
Aberdeen turned a good effort from starter Nick Venable into a win over the Lowell Spinners at Ripken Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Venable, now 4-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. John Chappell was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 12 save opportunities.

Danny Ortega, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2108 draft, took Lowell hurler D.J. O'Key deep in the bottom of the fourth. His solo home run put the Ironbirds on top, 2-1. In all, Ortega had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
