The Aberdeen Ironbirds knocked off the Staten Island Yankees, 6-4, in New York-Penn League action at Ripken Stadium. Aberdeen pitcher and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native Vicente Tapia had an outstanding performance. Aberdeen goes to 52-21, Staten Island to 33-40.

Aberdeen took a 6-2 lead on Justin Fisher's 12th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Fisher hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Staten Island pitcher Bobby Nilsen visibly frustrated.

"There's so many different ways you can win a game," said winning manager Jose Sierra.
