Black Bears Topple Scrappers, 3-1

West Virginia pitcher Manny Mejia had a large part in his team subduing the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 3-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Mejia picked up the win for West Virginia, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 3-4. Ramon Fuster picked up the save, his 3rd.
West Virginia shortstop Dusty Medina helped the Black Bears go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Medina hit a run-scoring single off Mahoning Valley pitcher Miguel Rivera.
Medina called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
West Virginia, at 41-32, sits in second place in the Pinckney Division.
