Loons, Focht Deal Whitecaps 4-0 Setback
Great Lakes and West Michigan got after it at Fifth Third Ballpark.

The Great Lakes Loons topped the West Michigan Whitecaps, 4-0, in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Great Lakes pitcher and Colorado Springs, Colorado, native Russ Focht. Great Lakes is in first place in the Eastern Division with a record of 76-60.

The famously hardworking Focht handled the Whitecaps all day, notching 7 strikeouts in 8.2 innings while allowing 5 hits. Focht goes to 3-3 on the year with 37 strikeouts.

"Russ was really attacking guys' weaknesses and he didn't leave a lot of balls over the plate," said Great Lakes field general Ivan Cruz.
