Loons Win Nail-Biter, 5-4
|
No one was more impactful than Rickey Hummel in the 5-4 Great Lakes win over West Michigan. Hummel went 5-6 with 5 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Kevin Rivas in relief. His record improves to 7-3. Jim Unknown took the loss. The third-place Loons lifted their record to 89-48.
The Loons procured the win, in large part because of first baseman Felipe Delgado. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Daniel Tolano.
