West Michigan Gets 4-2 Win
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the West Michigan Whitecaps and Great Lakes Loons.
The Great Lakes Loons got a sterling performance from pitcher Carlos Lemus, but the West Michigan Whitecaps still prevailed, 4-2. Lemus threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Jim Unknown picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Carlos Lemus was tagged with the loss. Carlos Burgos earned save number 6 this season.
Brett McFarren, the 22-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. McFarren contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put West Michigan up, 4-2.
"You never take a win for granted in this league," said McFarren.
With the win, West Michigan goes to 21-117, while the Loons fall to 89-49.
