Cougars Lose to Kernels in Walk-Off
Veterans Memorial Stadium played host to some high drama.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels withstood a fine game by Kane County left fielder Jerry Cantu at Veterans Memorial Stadium, to upend the Cougars, 5-4. Cantu was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Ben Hollingsworth picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 11-9. Chuck Wahler was tagged with the loss.

Cedar Rapids got a knockout punch from Dave Cuozzo. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Cuozzo said.

Cedar Rapids now owns a record of 80-58.
