River Bandits Top Bees in Extras, 5-4
|
The River Bandits grabbed a win, 5-4, at Modern Woodmen Park, overcoming a fine effort from Burlington pitcher Richard Clare. Clare went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The loss makes Burlington 65-74.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Quad Cities right fielder Alex Romero, facing Nate Steele, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the River Bandits the 5-4 win.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Romero told the Quad Cities Daily.
