AquaSox Trip Volcanoes, 9-4, in Extra Innings
|
The Everett AquaSox needed 10 innings to defeat the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 9-4, at Volcanoes Stadium. Everett shortstop Fernando Castillo had a superb performance. He was 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Al Steward earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. With the win, Everett boosts its record to 3-8.
Rogelio Morales found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the tenth. Facing Salem-Keizer hurler Willie Garza, the 21-year-old designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 6th walk of the season put the AquaSox on top, 4-3.
In comments to the Everett Citizen, Morales admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
