Puckett in Fine Form in 1-0 Win
|
The Boise Hawks downed the Cincinnati (SS-A) Reds, 1-0, at Memorial Stadium. Stellar pitching by Nick Puckett had a lot to do with it. The left-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. The Hawks have hit the ground running, raising their record to 8-3. While it's still too soon to talk about Boise hoisting their 7th Round 3 trophy, fans are getting excited about their strong start.
Puckett, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, was dealing all game. He kept Cincinnati (SS-A) hitters off-balance, while giving the Hawks 7 quality innings. Puckett threw 85 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 6.
"Nick was in attack mode," said Boise manager Albert Favela.
