Victors Again, Vancouver Win Streak at 9
|
The Vancouver Canadians topped the Boise Hawks, 6-4, with left fielder Marcos Gaviria playing a big role. Gaviria was 3-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Canadians in the win. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Pat Prater in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Bernie Sandoval took the loss. Eric Burnham finished the game for Vancouver and earned his 1st save.
The Canadians got a big at-bat from right fielder Victor Saucedo. For the game, Saucedo was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Vancouver a 5-4 lead.
"This team keeps racking up the wins," said Canadians manager Robert Ely.
Vancouver, now 10-2, has gotten their season off to a good start.
